Design Visualization

Throughout this semester I have learned a lot of things. I learned how to draw perspectives, elevations, pictorial views and more. I have also learned how to organize information and how to make it visually apealling. A main thing I enjoyed about the class is drawing. My favorite drawing I did was the self-portriat I drew in my sketch book. I focused on the shading and detail.

Second Year Critques

The second year critques were taken place in the lobby. They had to design a sculpture that people could interact with. They put a scale figure next to the sculpture so we would understand how large it is. Before creating the sculpture they made up their own rules that they must follow throughout the project. For instance one guy said that his rule was that every fold he made on one side he had to make an opposite fold on the other side. The second year students said that the difference between first year and second was that they focused more on the design process. They focused more on the details like what materials to use and how they want people to react with it. They also dressed formally when presenting. The ladies wore either skirts or dresses and the guys wore nice pants and dress shirts. Also another thing that was different about their project was that it was a group project. The picture below is of a project.

Luminaire

This is the first draft of my luminaire. I wanted to create a small slit of light that would run up a wall. My light phenomenon was the light hitting the stairs. I wanted to show that light by a simple slit of light. I talked to Stoel and he suggested that I try a different form and go away from a square.

This is my final project. I decided to have only one slit in the front. The light affect turned out pretty much how I wanted it to. The only thing was that I hoped it would reach up farther up the wall. During the critque Stoel and Tommy mentioned that my luminaire was in the way of the light affect. So Tommy was messing with it and tilted it upward which caused the light to shine higher on the wall. I am pretty happy with how my project turned out and I also enjoyed seeing everyone else's luminaire.

my sketches

All of these three sketches that I drew focus more on the outline. I did zoom in on one of the drawings to show more detail.

Sketches

Anna Hambly

I chose this drawing because she zoomed in on the piece of wood. I would like to start to close into the detail instead of always drawing the whole object.

Anna Lance

I liked this sketch because she also focused on the detail. I also like how she shaded the background. The shading gives the drawing a 3D effect.

objects A and B

I did three pictorials of object A and object B to scale. I need to focus on my line angles and how dark I draw my circles.

i-pod pictorials

I had to pick an object and draw 3 pictorials for it. The things I need to work on are line quality, and page layout.
